    Day four of Headache city.
To be honest it isn't as bad as it has been at the moment but it is certainly still there. I have made an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow afternoon as i would really like to get some tablets for it before we go away. It's more sharp pains and an ache at the top of my neck than anything else. Anyway, lets hope it's gone tomorrow.
Today as i haven't felt well we haven't done much. Sorted some things out for the holiday and Corey has played in the garden although it's been a bit wet. He's got an obsession with his wellies at the moment and won't let me take them off so last night he just had his nappy on and his which was a funny site. What was even funnier is this picture of him wearing one of his Daddys hats, he looks like a workman!

    Conclusions
    Tuesday, August 29, 2006

Well as dim as it sounds i think i have come to a conclusion when it comes to my insomnia. Yesterday i felt a bit ill. I had a bad headache and also period pains so as DH was home i didn't really do very much. Last night i hardly slept at all. I nodded off around 2am and was up with Corey at 6am so now i feel even worse than yesterday! I think inorder for me to get a good nights sleep i need to be on the go during the day. I know i am terrible at doing exercise but over the last month i have really busied myself with housework and stuff and am shattered by the end of the day and have also slept well. So even when i'm feeling not particularly in the mood( like today) i need to mke sure i get up off my butt and do something or i'll suffer for it at bedtime!

Why is it that kids get ill just before you go on holiday? 4 days to go til we go to Devon and Corey has got a bad cold and now is coughing lots. Hes had the cold for a week now and it's been no more than a runny nose but now he is barking like a dog so please send positive vibes that it doesn't go to his chest please!

Pictured is the layout i managed to do last night. The title is a part scraplift from a LO over at 3 Scrappy Boys. Thanks for stopping by!

    Scrapbooking on the table
    Monday, August 28, 2006
Thought i'd try something a little different today.
DH gave me the idea a while ago and as he's at home today(he's working a couple of night shifts) i'd thought i'd give it a go. He has a little wooden table we got from IKEA which he has his breakfast and lunch at sometimes plays at. I was going to paint it but decided to cover it in pictures and cover in sticky backed plastic. It's turned out really well and Corey loves looking at all the pictures.

Yesterday DH worked so Corey and i had lots of fun playing with cars and stuff. We also made some music using various pots and pans. Later on we painted and Corey made some fab handprints which i must use on a layout at some point!
I'm hoping to get some scrapbooking done later when Corey gets to bed as i'll have all evening to myself!

    Frogs and Dens
    Friday, August 25, 2006
Well i'm trying to write this entry again for the 3rd time today as blogger has been a bit tempremental today, well that's an understatement really!
We seem to be overrun with frogs at the moment. Teeny tiny baby frogs and lots of them, i think we found about 10 yesterday without even looking. Dave was worried he might run them over with the lawn mower so he's had to be extra careful. They are so cute though, makes me want to keep a couple!
Haven't really done anything interesting over the last couple of days. Wednesday Corey went off to nursery and i tidied and ironed and started painting the kitchen while he was away. It's currently green but a little too sickly for me so i have gone with a very slightly darker green, bit like a sage colour(well it's called watermelon actually). It is going to take two coats unfortunetely and as the kitchen isn't that small it will take ages i guess as i struggle to find the time to do it.

Corey has developed a passion for den building so the first words out of his mouth when he got home from nursery were den and he promptly ran to the sofa to get the duvet which was hidden behind! He likes to sit under there with all his cars, very cute!

Yesterday saw the weekly visit from my sister, nothing much to report there other than that she has now lost around 6 stone in weight and is slowly disappearing!

Today DH has been off and so we've been to the local shopping centre for a browse and a bite to eat. We had to get Corey Mcdonalds of course as he is collecting the cars they currently have in the Happy Meals from the movie of the same name. We sat down to eat but Corey was disappointed when there was a Girls Aloud music thing in his meal and no car. Dave went to ask but apparently they had run out of cars! Corey was having non of this and refused to eat his lunch so i had to run to the Early Learning Centre and buy him a car! Extreme i know but it's difficult at the best of times to get him to eat.

    Health Visitors and silly mistakes!
    Wednesday, August 23, 2006
Monday we should have had the Health Visitor come visit. I received a letter on Friday stating they were coming for a development review. Considering we haven't seen a HV for 2 yrs it was a bit of a suprise. To be honest i couldn't really see the point as they know nothing about him so i decided to ring up and tell them. It wasn't the usual HV as apparently she is off sick at the moment(go figure) so it was someone else that was coming and therefore who i spoke too. I basically asked if the review was just to see if we needed anymore help and yes it was so therefore was unnecessary as we have all the support e need really. I did manage to make my feelings known and tld her that we needed the support 2 yrs ago and not ow. She took this point on board but as she was filling in it went completely over her head as it wasn't really anything to do with her. Anyway the upshot is i can ring her if i need any advice as it seems she will be the point of contact now and not this new HV.
My silly mistake is really stupid. I had to post a letter this morning on the way to taking Corey to nursery. So off we went. When we got to the post box i handed the letter along with another for Corey to post. As we approached nursery i realised i'd forgot a letter i needed to give to nursery along with the money for Coreys nursery trip and then it hit me, i hadn't forgotten it, i'd bloody posted it in the post box with the letter! ARGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Only thing RM say i can do is wait for the postman to empty it and see if he'll give it me back. So pissed with myself. There was only a fiver in it but thats not the point, i feel so stupid! So wish me luck in 1, that i can actually catch the postman and 2, that he give it us back!

    The meaning of Catherine
    Monday, August 21, 2006
Today's blog prompt was to find out the meaning of your name and also if it 'fits' with you and if you like it. I've never particularly liked it and nowadays most people call me Cath except for my immediate family who still call me Catherine. Don't particularly like Cath either but people have to call me something. It's derived from the greek for 'Pure' so not exactly sure if it fits me lol! The biggest pain about it is that there are so many variations on how to spell it so invariably it gets spelt wrongly quite often. I would have probably preferred to be called Kate or Kat but it'sa bit late to ask people to call me that now.

    Reorganising
I'm still in operation house tidy mode, even hubby thinks i've been replaced with the flylady!
Friday afternoon we went out for dinner whilst stopping off at Au Naturale to buy some wicker baskets. I want one for the kitchen to put my vegetables in, a white one for the bathroom for toiletries and i bought a really small one for the living room for the remote controls to live in. I reorganised the kitchen and it looks so much better. Next thing i want to do is paint one of the walls a different colour as there is a bit too much of the same green in there. Then we saw some canvases at Au Naturale that were about 1 metre square and so we are going to by one and i'm going to have a go at painting something on it for the wall as it's a bit bare at the moment so wish me luck on that!
Nothing much happened yesterday. DH went to watch his frst match of the season and they didn't do bad, drawing 1-1 with Liverpool. My team(SWFC) won their first match, YAY!
Today is going to be rest and relaxation i think because the weather is terrible. It's rained and rained for 3 days now! Typical english weather!

    Black as night
Wow it feels like night time here at the minute. We are about to have a huge downpour and possible thunderstorms which will be great, i love thunderstorms.
Today has been busy, i always seem to be busy.At the moment i am in Flylady mode, not sure what's happened but i can't stop cleaning. Don't get me wrong i always have a tidy(ish) house but i don't tend to thoroughly clean all the time but at the moment the house is spotless and has been for over a week now. Every day i've been doing a little bit more and keeping on top of things, it's working so well.
Today i had my Dad come visit. I won't see him now until the middle of September cause he's going away to Egypt for a couple of weeks and then we're away in Devon for a week. Needless to say my holiday won't be as exotic as his will be(he's staying in a 5 star All inclusive hotel).
Have done a touch of the Delia Smith this afternoon and am about to put a home made Shepherds Pie in the oven, yum!

Well it's been a fabulous few days really.
At the weekend i enjoyed the Cybercrop over on Scrappad which was fabby and had some great classes.
Monday my good friend Trish came with her gorgeous family. Her 2 children William and Grace are just delightful and the most well mannered children i've met as well as being completely gorgeous. Usually Corey is extremely shy and the tears flow when he meets someone knew but he was fine and he loved playing with them and was sad when they went.
Yesterday was the monthly meet up of the Bliss Mums. There seemt to be more of us there and loads of kids with them being off on holidays. It was hard work trying to keep and eye on Corey as he loved running around and trying to escape. Anyway, it was a fab afternoon chatting to the mums and we didn't get home til late afternoon both very tired!

    Ghost in the machine?
So i have just cooked Sunday Lunch. A little early for us but DH wanted to go and watch the football in bed! Anyway i decided to make yummy yorkshire puddings with sage, thyme and onion but the bloomin oven wouldn't work for some reason. The light was on but the fan wouldn't work. So we had to have lunch without them. Yet when i tried the oven just as we were abot to sit down it was working? Weird!
Heres the other class LO i managed to do this morning from the cybercrop :)

In other news me and my friend have made up i'm glad to say. I don't know what i'd do without her in my life! I know you read my blog so I wubs ya hun!

Yes, where has the summer gone? Now i don't particularly like it sweltering but at the moment i'm sat with a jacket on and my socks!

Funny note for today - Bare in my Corey's speech is very much delayed. I asked Corey if he was ready for his nap this afternoon, the reply, No Way!

    A beautiful story
    Tuesday, August 08, 2006
I'm guessing that this is actually fictional but it is still beautiful.
Even though i don't really believe in god it really touched me.
    Please read.

The Dana Lu, Diana, & David Blessing story.

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the doctor walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. Still groggy from surgery, her husband David held her hand as they braced themselves for the latest news. That afternoon of March 10, 1991, complications had forced Diana, only 24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the couple's new daughter, Dana Lu Blessing. At 12" long and weighing only one pound and nine ounces, they already knew she was perilously premature. Still, the doctor's soft words dropped like bombs. "I don't think she's going to make it," he said, as kindly as he could. There's only a 10-percent chance she will live through the night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it, her future could be a very cruel one".

Numb with disbelief, David and Diana listened as the doctor described the devastating problems Dana would likely face if she survived. She would never walk, she would never talk, she would probably be blind, and she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on.

"No! No," was all Diana could say. She and David, with their 5-year-old son Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a family of four. Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away. Through the dark hours of morning as Dana held onto life by the thinnest thread, Diana slipped in and out of sleep, growing more and more determined that their tiny daughter would live and live to be a healthy, happy young girl. But David, fully awake and listening to additional dire details of their daughter's chances of ever leaving the hospital alive, much less healthy, knew he must confront his wife with the inevitable. David walked in and said that we needed to talk about making funeral arrangements. Diana remembers she felt so bad for him because he was doing everything trying to include me in what was going on, but I just wouldn't listen, I couldn't listen. I said,

"No, that is not going to happen, no way! I don't care what the doctors say. Dana is not going to die! One day she will be just fine, and she will be coming home with us!"

As if willed to live by Diana's determination, Dana clung to life hour after hour, with the help of every medical machine and marvel her miniature body could endure. But as those first days passed, a new agony set in for David and Diana. Because Dana's underdeveloped nervous system was essentially 'raw,' the lightest kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn't even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strength of their love. All they could do, as Dana struggled alone beneath the ultraviolet light in the tangle of tubes and wires, was to pray that God would stay close to their precious little girl.

There was never a moment when Dana suddenly grew stronger. But as the weeks went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an ounce of strength there. At last, when Dana turned two months old, her parents were able to hold her in their arms for the very first time. And two months later though doctors continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of surviving, much less living any kind of normal life were next to zero. Dana went home from the hospital, just as her mother had predicted.

Today, five years later, Dana is a petite but feisty young girl with glittering gray eyes and an unquenchable zest for life. She shows no signs, whatsoever, of any mental or physical impairment. Simply, she is everything a little girl can be and more, but that happy ending is far from the end of her story. One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in Irving, Texas, Dana was sitting in her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local ball park where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing. As always, Dana was chattering nonstop with her mother and several other adults sitting nearby when she suddenly fell silent. hugging her arms across her chest, little Dana asked,

"Do you smell that?" Smelling the air and detecting the approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, "Yes, it smells like rain." Dana closed her eyes and again asked, "Do you smell that?" Once again, her mother replied, "Yes, I think we're about to get wet, it smells like rain." Still caught in the moment, Dana shook her head, patted her thin shoulders with her small hands and loudly announced, "No, it smells like Him. It smells like God when you lay your head on His chest." Tears blurred Diana's eyes as Dana then happily hopped down to play with the other children.

Before the rains came, her daughter's words confirmed what Diana and all the members of the extended Blessing family had known, at least in their hearts, all along. During those long days and nights of her first two months of her life, when her nerves were too sensitive for them to touch her, God was holding Dana on His chest and it is His loving scent that she remembers so well.

    Happy Birthday Daddy!
My dad is 72 yrs young today and i am so proud of him. You have never met a man with so much zest for life, he is truly amazing! He is such an important part of my life and i love him so much. I will be going to see him in a little while to give him his birthday cards. He's already had his present, a mobile phone, which he may learn to use by his next birthday(he very much a technophobe lol!)

In other news not a great deal happening. Had a major headache yesterday which marred our trip out to Bakewell. We only had sandwiches for dinner as i just couldn't physically do dinner. I went for a lie down but it didn't help. Last night it was after 12am before i got to slep. Thankfully Corey let me lie in until after 730am. It's still there a bit this morning but loads better.
    Catcha later!

Tomorrow i think we're all going out to get somelovely fresh air before the rains come tomorrow afternoon.
Busy week next week. Monday i have to go to my dads as it's his birthday. Wednesday is nursery day, Thursday is visitors day as my Sis usually comes. I also need to make time to meetup with my friends Trish and Gwen so don't think i'll have a spare day which is great cause it means it will be a quick week and closer to going on holiday.
