Well its been an interesting couple of days, yesterday especially.
Sunday was spent solely concentrating on getting the wedding invites and I’m pleased to say that except for sticking a few hearts on the reply cards they are all finished! You cannot begin to imagine the relief I feel at having them done now, I can almost at last get back to scrapping!
Yesterday I decided we would do something different. I decided to take Corey for his first trip to the cinema. Now Corey has a bit of a noise aversion so I was worried about that.
First we went into the shopping centre and I bought him a new car and then we went and got a Mcdonalds for lunch, yum! Then a quick browse around the shops buying some goodies on the way and then we headed to the cinema, bought our tickets, and headed for screen 4. We were seeing Charlotte’s Web and there was only us and about other people in there. Anyway he started to bawl as soon as we got in. New environment coupled with the darkness freaked him out a little I guess. This I hadn’t bargained for. I thought he’d be fine until the film started but things happened in reverse. I managed to settle him down and he was fine. The trailers and film came on and he never murmured once about the noise. About 40 mins into the film was when he started to squirm and get fidgety. He started talking and generally being silly and wanted to walk about. In hind sight he’s probably a bit too young but never mind. We did manage to stay til the end mind so I was very pleased with him on that count. As an added treat we then got on the train into town to meet Daddy. A trip on a train is always a big treat for him as he’s train mad! So yesterday really was a Mummy & Son day!
At the moment I’m having major internet problems and can only get on for a few minutes at a time. Have called various people and no one seems to want to take responsibility. Orange said it was a line fault this morning and that it would be fixed in 2 hrs, yea right!
Last night it did hold out long enough for me to be able to order a Dolly bead from A string of Beads! Lime Sparkle, it’s just lush! And this morning my Aquarium Pastel turned up so I’m a happy camper this morning!

    Update
    Saturday, February 24, 2007

Wow, 5 days since I posted! I’m becoming a bid fed up of the blog and viewing by my counter not a huge amount of people view anyway so I’m thinking that I might not update too often and keep it simple. Anyway, we’ll see how we go. At the end of the day I write for me and I think I stress too much about other people reading it when I shouldn’t. Kinda strange that isn’t it. Why should I care who reads it? But I do. I guess that’s just the neediness in me!
Anyway, what’s been happening this week?
Well it’s been kind of a busy week, every week seems to be busy at the moment, where does the time go?
Corey’s been enjoying nursery. We had a review there on Wednesday. His key worker, Speech Therapist and Support Services workers all attended and we chatted about how he is doing, which is really well. His speech therapist was gob smacked. She said he is doing so much better and was really happy with his progress. Although his speech is getting better he is still behind and so his name will be put forward for a place at ICAN, this is a program that Corey may get on the help with communication.
His key worker from Early Yrs support was also really happy and because he is doing so well they won’t be going into nursery every week to work with him but just reviewing him every few months.

Other news at nursery this week really made me smile. We have been making great progress with potty training. On Tuesday at home we had Corey in pants all day with just a couple of small accidents. Anyway when I went to pick him up on Friday he was sporting a sticker which stated ‘My teacher was is over the moon with me’. Apparently Corey went for ‘number 2’s’ on the toilet. I was thrilled! Let’s hope this is the start of ‘the end’ of nappies, apart from the obvious step forward it would save me a fortune!

I’m trying to think what else has happened this week but am failing miserably.

Yesterday I worked in the morning and today I have been to the crop which was fabulous as usual. Lots of lovely people to talk too and a chance to catch up with my good friends Dawn and Joanne. It’s the first time I’ve seen Dawn in ages and so it was the first chance I’ve had to give her the Dolly bead I’d bought her. Thankfully she loved it! I also got chance to thank her for the troll bracelet she bought me. I’ve actually ordered another bead, a troll one called Aquarium Pastel. Hopefully it will be here on Monday!

Today we went a bought Corey his first bike. You’re probably wondering why at the age of over 3 he doesn’t already have one. Well he just hasn’t been ready for one due to his delays. Now we think it’s about time so we went to Toys R Us and bought him a Lightning Mcqueen one. He’s not brilliant at riding it but hopefully it will come.

Will update with anything else I can remember later.

Thanks for reading if you got this far!

Yesterday was a really relaxing day.
Had a lie in thanks to hubby and then got ready and we went to the local Botanical Gardens for a walk around. Corey was happy running around and generally being free and it was just nice for us to spend some quiet time as a family. After the Gardens we went and had a walk around the shops(although not many were open) and ended up in Coffee Revolution where we sat and drank Lattes and Peppermint tea while Corey munched on Oatmeal and raisin cookies.
Nothing much happened last night. Dave did some work while i worked some more on the wedding invites which are coming along but very slowly i might add.
Corey is in a funny place right now, literally. He's turned into Mr Silly and just loves to mess around all the time, just a typical 3 yr old i guess and i just love his sense of humour.
We've also had a couple of breakthroughs recently. Now bear in mind that Corey has some delays in his development and his motor skills and feeding have been quite delayed. So over the last couple of weeks he has learnt to jump! YAY!!! Only a couple of cms and he does tend to fall over when he lands but it's a big start! Also a he's not a big eater or drinker we've always had to physically give him his milk ourselves in the morning and at night otherwise he just wouldn't drink it and his fluid intake would be worse than it is. Anyway the last 4 days we have managed to get him to drink it himself which to us is fabulous!!! I'm so proud!

    New Shoes
    Saturday, February 17, 2007
Have a few things to update on so if you do want to read then please bear with me!

Thursday was a busy day. We had to go to the Physiotherapists office yet again to see the Orthotist about Corey's feet. So he looked at Corey walking without his shoes and socks on and looked at the notes the Physio had made and said that he would be getting inserts. These are hopefully going to help his balance. We have to see how he is in a few weeks time as if they're going to work we should see a difference quite soon. If after a couple of months we haven't seen a difference then we should stop using them as there's just no point. So keep your fingers crossed for us that they do make a difference. Hopefully it's going to help him with things like stairs and climbing etc as these are the things he struggles with.
After we'd been there we headed into town to buy him some new shoes. The inserts, although not huge make his shoes smaller and we couldn't get his feet in so i had to buy some more and will need to get him a few more pairs. The staff in Clarks were wonderfully helpful and we now have a pair of shoes that light up and Corey loves them. Then we headed to Corey's favourite lace, the train station, to meet Daddy. In the evening i managed to get some scrapping done. I was very kindly asked by Kelly over at Mojo Blog if i would be the guest scrap lifter this week which i was honoured to do. We had to scrap lift a layout by the talented Dougie from over at UKScrappers. I did a layout of Oscar. He's the brown and white spot Dalmatian that i bought 13 yrs ago and he lives with my Dad.
Yesterday i worked in the morning and then called at the ASDA before picking Corey up from nursery so i didn't get a minute to myself until well after 1pm. Then i took a break and actually sat down for an hour whilst Corey napped. Didn't get up to anything last night as i was too tired and think i was asleep before 10pm
Today has been exceptionally quiet. Dave and Corey went cycling and set off at 8am and i didn't see them again until nearly 5 o'clock. So it gave me time to watch TV, get on with the wedding invites I'm making and generally just relax.
This morning my silver bead for my Troll bracelet arrived. It's a Love links bead and it's really lovely. Can't wait to order more. I now have 2 glass beads and 2 silver. It's fast becoming an addiction, and an expensive one at that. My very good friend Dawn has bought me the bracelet for them to go on which arrived in the week but unfortunately the wrong ones have been sent so i had to send them back for the right size. I'm hoping they'll be here on Monday.
Well am off to bed now. Take care bloggers!

    Weird Dream
    Thursday, February 15, 2007
I had a really strange dream last night that was quite upsetting.
I dreamt that my Dad had a heart attack.
He was on a life support machine and me and my sister went to see him.
I was talking about the football club he supports and said how crap they were, at which point he sat bolt upright in bed and came out of his coma. He was ok after that but it really shook me because i woke up and it took me a few seconds before i realised it wasn't real!

    Hectic
    Wednesday, February 14, 2007
It's been a busy couple of days, this week is one of those where you rarely have time to top and take a breath!
Monday was Corey's Physio appointment. She hadn't seem him since December and also since the Orthotist said we didn't need the inserts for his shoes. Anyway, she wasn't happy. She said he isn't showing the classic signs of being clumsy, it's his feet that are causing him to be this way and she is adamant that he needs the inserts. So we have to go back tomorrow to see a different Ortho to get inserts. Wish they would just make there mind up. It's such a pain having to traipse all the way to the centre as it isn't exactly local. So we'll see what tomorrow brings.
Yesterday was my hospital appointment for my tests. I have a high blood platelet count and this is unusual. So the doctor asked lots of questions and then had a feel of my abdomen. He then sent me for some blood tests and i have to go and have an abdominal scan. Either my count is high because my body is reacting to something or it's simply because i make too many. If all the tests come back inconclusive then i have to have a bone marrow sample taken and also may be referred to a gastroenterologist to make sure it is IBS i have and nothing else like Colitis. So it's simply a waiting game now. I have to go back in 4 wks time.
Today has been spent making wedding invites for a friend(which is going to take me forever *sigh*) and tidying the house.
It's nice to sit down and chill now whilst the Coreyman is in bed!
Hope all my blog readers are well!

    Quiet
    Monday, February 12, 2007

Well it's been a really quiet weekend. Saturday was spend just doing household chores, not very exciting i know. Sunday Dave went out with Corey on the bike and i used the time to do some scrapping. Haven't done much recently so I'm trying to get back into it. So i manage to finish an 8.5x11 LO. I'm really fed up with 12x12 at the minute and think i will be sticking to this size for the foreseeable future, it's so much easier.
Last night Dave and i went to the cinema to see Employee of the Month. All i will say about it is save yourself the £6 it costs to get in, it was rubbish!!!

    A layout without pictures
    Saturday, February 10, 2007

    This was difficult to do!
My sister asked me on the spur of the moment to make a page for her friend's 21st. I have never scrapped without pictures before so it was hard for me. I did some searching but came up with nothing and in the end just ended up throwing patterned paper together with a poem. I quite like how it turned out. My sister put it in a frame and it lookes really cool.
    Thanks for looking!

    Snow
    Friday, February 09, 2007
Today we've had no snow, just a few bits left from yesterday, abut enough to make a snowball! So Corey missed out on the snow fun. So wouldn't you just know that it would come down thick and fast just as Corey went to bed with rain forecast for the night! If there is non left in the morning i will be so disappointed!

    Manners
Do you know that my lil guy is getting such good manners!
Whenever he has asked for stuff in the past we have always drummed it into him to say Please and Thank you and it seems to be paying off. Most of the time he says please, or rather Peas as he says it but the thank yous have been a little less often. But for the past coupe of days he has been so cute! The other day i cut him some pieces of apple and put them on a plate for him to which he said thank you and Monday night i made his tea which he saw on the side cooling down and he just said thank you thank you. How cute is that!!

Today has been a mad day. I really needed to get housework done but no sooner had i started that i got a call from nursery to say that Corey had really bad diarrheao and would i go pick him up. Luckily he's only at the end of the road so i was there in 5 mins and he was absolutely fine. Brought him home and although he has 'been' again it's been fine so hopefully it was just a one off. No sure when i'm going to get my housework done now!

    Dolly beads
    Monday, February 05, 2007

Well after there being a bit of a troll bead explosion amongst friends i decided that i needed to get on the bandwagon and start to build my own bracelet. Now i haven't got the actual bracelet as yet but i felt the need to buy my first bead for it. The idea is that you get beads for special occasions so that the bracelet is somewhat sentimental. So my first bead was to mark the new year, 2007, and the change in me that my resolutions have brought. I'm hoping that i will get another bead, a silver one, for either Valentines or Mothers day but the likelihood is that i will have to buy it myself as DH doesn't have a clue. Anyway i decided that the troll beads although lovely were not really unique as they are obviously mass produced but a very lovely cyberfriend has her own bead website called A String of Beads and has just started to make these little gems and they are all unique and made by her own fair hands! So they went up on the website and i think within the hour they were all gone but luckily i managed to get 'Under the Sea' which is gorgeous don't you think? I am so excited about my latest obsession!!

    Emotional
Isn't it funny how you can get emotional over something so insignificant?
Today DH and i went to the local shopping centre for a browse round as we had time to ourselves with Corey being at nursery. After a bit of shopping we headed to the food court for some lunch. We sat down to eat and music started playing as it was the usual Monday tea dancing event that they hold for the OAPs. They all got up and started waltzing to Edelweiss from The Sound of Music. I was so overwhelmed watching all the couples dancing around the floor. I started to think of my Mum & Dad and how they would always have a dance together at family get togethers. It just made me feel so humble and i felt so much warmth. I couldn't look at Dave as i had tears in my eyes! Isn't that silly!

    Manic
    Saturday, February 03, 2007
So yesterday was on of those manic days where you run around like a headless chicken trying to get everything done.
Took Corey to nursery, then ASDA, then back home and housework(lots, because it's been neglected this week), pick Corey up from nursery. Then i had to take him to the doctors.
For the last 7 days he has failed to go to the toilet(for number twos). Now he does suffer with constipation and he has medication for it but it obviously isn't working as well. He is really well in himself and still running about happily and eating and drinking. So we saw the doctor who didn't seem too concerned but didn't really seem to know what to give us. In the end he prescribed something called Arachis Oil. He said that instructions on how to use it would come with the prescription. So we headed to the chemist near the doctor's surgery to get the script. They didn;t have any. So we decided to go to town and meet Dave from work and get the prescription at Boots. Nope, they didn't have it either. So i called the big chemists up to see if they had it, nope! In the end i rang our local chemist who luckily said they had some. So we went to the train station to meet Dave and then went to the chemist. This is when the fun started. The oil came in a 200ml bottle. How am i supposed to get the 50mls needed into my child's bottom from a bottle??(Interestingly enough the prescription said 50mls per rectum? Surely everyone only hs one lol) The pharmacist hadn't a clue either , he said it didn't come with an applicator. So i rang the doctors. The receptionist was as baffled as i was and said she would get the doctor to call me. This was at 430pm and it was 2 hrs later they called back, and it wasn't even the original doctor!
She said she would advise me not to give him it as it may irritate and to see if our regular, get increased medication worked over the weekend. So asked why the hell he had prescribed it in the first place. She just said every doctor is different. What a load of rubbish. I'm guessing he basically prescribed the first thing he came to in the book! Anyway the good news is that he has been 3 times this afternoon which was such a huge relief to all of us i can tell you!!
Today i have been to have my hair cut. I have gone for a short bob which some long layers. I really like it and it feels so much better. Then i walked to the local craft shop for a couple of supplies and was naughty and had a Mcdonalds(which was yummy) Tonight i've just been coseying up with hubby and watching TV.
Thanks for getting this far, sometimes i just waffle on about anything!!

After 33 yrs i have decided it's about time i learnt to drive.
It can be a real hindrance not being about to just hop in the car and go and so i'm going to book some lessons and hopefully pass my test.
Before i was nervous but i'm getting excited now!
